Bio:
Tyler Herring graduated from Brookland High School in Arkansas in 2007. He attended Williams Baptist University (College) where he played baseball from 2007-2011. Herring graduated with a Bachelor of Science in K-12 Health and Physical Education.
In the fall of 2011, Herring became an assistant with the WBU Softball and Volleyball teams. During his four years with the Eagles Softball team, they compiled a 146-59 record. As an assistant from 2011-2014, the Eagles compiled a record of 119-41 accompanied by two AMC Conference Championships. During Herring’s three years as an assistant, the Eagles landed two NAIA All-Americans, 10 All-Conference Players, and 53 Academic All-Conference Players. The Eagles also spent three seasons ranked in the NAIA Top 25, along with a fourth-place finish in the NAIA National Tournament in 2013.
Herring was named the Interim-Head Coach of the Eagles in December 2014. During the Spring 2025 season, Herring led the team to a 27-18 mark, coaching two All-Conference Players, 17 Academic All-Conference Players, and nested the AMC Freshman of the Year and AMC Player of the Year awards.
Herring became head softball coach at Blue Mountain College in Mississippi for the 2015-2016 season. In his first season, Herring took over a team with a record of 6-31 and improved the win column to a 22-31 record. In the second year of his reign, the Toppers improved their win percentage going 21-27. During the 2018 season, the Herring-guided Toppers saw pitching ace Montanna Smith (FR/Jonesboro, Ark.) set the single season record for wins inside the circle (20) and led the team to a 23-25 record. During Herring's tenure from 2015-2018, he led the program to a 64-81 record, including a 28-44 record inside the Southern States Athletic Conference.
In August of 2018, Herring was named the Head Baseball Coach at Buffalo Island Central High School. The Mustangs finished the 2019 season with a 10-7 record and posted a 1-3 record in the 2020 season, shortened by COVID-19.
Herring was named the Head Softball Coach at BIC to start the 2020-2021 season. In four seasons, Herring has guided them to a 52-48-1 record, reaching the regional tournament in each of the first four seasons.
Outside of coaching, Herring was named Chair of the City of Bono Planning and Zoning Committee in 2021.
Herring has also volunteered with Ag for Autism since 2021 and was selected for a position on the board of directors in the Summer of 2024. Ag for Autism is a non-profit organization of mainly agricultural related businesses who raise funds to support individuals and school districts impacted by autism. Since the organization's inception in 2012 they have raised over one million dollars which has been granted back to the autism community. Herring also founded the Autism Awareness Athletic Challenge in 2022. This challenge leverages the personal experiences, community leadership, and professional excellence of coaches in Northeast Arkansas to help increase autism education and to promote a healthy living environment through awareness efforts and fundraising activities. The most notable event is the All-Stars for Autism Softball Tournament held in Jonesboro, Ar. The tournament is in its 3rd year and plays host to 8u through high school teams.
Herring is married to Staci (Spargo) Herring of Walnut Ridge, Arkansas and they have two boys, Branch, age 8 and Weller, 8 months.
